Scattered, Smothered & Covered! In August, Garde Rail Gallery owners Karen Light & Marcus Pina packed the minivan and embarked cross country to exhibit at the annual Folk Fest art show in Atlanta. This provides the perfect opportunity for them to visit artists along the way, and to seek out and investigate new discoveries. "Scattered, Smothered & Covered" is a result of that trip, a group show of 25 or so self-taught artists from across the country and Canada, providing a rather large sampler platter of the best in contemporary folk art. On the menu: Kentucky Woodcarver LaVon Van Williams Columbus Ohio artist Rick Borg Toronto Canada's Jennifer Harrison, Clint Griffin, Scott Griffin & Casey McGlynn Georgia Folk Pottery Families The Hewell's & The Fergusons Alabama's Jimmy Lee Sudduth, Annie Tolliver, Mose Tolliver, James "Buddy" Snipes, Suzy Odom Atlanta's Ab The Flagman The Northwest's Anne Grgich, Stephen Powers, Mark O'Malley, & Ree Brown Older ships by John Taylor Michigan's Tom D. and Donna Collins Florida's Own Alyne Harris, Ruby Williams & Missionary Mary Proctor Chicago artist Eileen Doman New York lawyer/artist Daniel Belardinelli |
