Last year we were introduced to Holly Farrell's hauntingly beautiful still-life portraits at an art fair in Atlanta, miles away from her Toronto home. Her moody, often melancholic depictions of everyday objects, like a pair of shoes, metal lawn chair, or china tea cup, have gained her a substantial following in and around Toronto. "When the objects started to take on a character of their own, I realized I was really painting portraits without any people in them."
At a recent show in Portland we completely sold out of her work - her haunting portraits of soaps and other everyday objects a hit with the show goers. This is Holly's first solo Seattle show.
