"This had a couple of meanings to me. I've done many ships that are part of a clear historical tradition, but this one wasn't really a part of that tradition, but was still a ship. The story of Noah and his isolation from people, but association with animals seems "broken" to me, too. And making this was only vaguely related to other things that I had made; it wasn't really part of a line."
