ss comet
"The Comet was built in 1901 in Portland, Maine. This piece includes some of the wire from the cotton field in Arizona that is also used on the Wiehawken. My kids always bring me things to add to the ships - their contributions on this one would include a child's compass on the atop the main cabin, a crushed ring they found in the street (on the bow), ink pen barrel, and piping from an old baseball backstop. I'm always looking for little bits and pieces wherever I go. The piece of blue flag on the front is a part of some loose stitching that came off an actual flag, a flag of blue field with 6 six-pointed stars, the personal HQ flag of George Washington."
