"The Alexander Hamilton was a Hudson River Line steamer, built 1924. The ship discontinued operations in 1972; after residing at South Street Seaport, NYC, she was acquired by a restaurant owner in New Jersey. The ship sank in a storm at a navy pier. Note the front of steering cabin - the remains of my mother-in-law's camera. This happened to be one of those pieces where at every turn someone happened to bring me something that I immediately used on the ship. In fact, everything that was brought to me was exactly what I needed, including all the plywood for the decks, copper for the base, and parts of my mother-in-law's camera that happened to show up one afternoon." 42" length, 2 1/2" width, 11" ht sold back - next ship all ships |
